lyrics:
Somewhere
Up there
In the cobwebs of my mind
Faint memories
They take me
Back to a time
Where the waves would roll in slow
And the sand castles would know
That light though the looking glass
It takes me to the past
Somewhere
Down there
In the alleys of my heart
Mixed emotions
Like a vast ocean
Still try to tear me apart
Those fears from yesterday
Too young to know the way
Oh, that light though the looking glass
It takes me to the past
Oh, that light through the looking glass
It takes me to the past
And the heaviness of hope
Will forever last
Somewhere
Out there
In the silence of my soul
Lost spirits
Make me hear it
And do what I’m told
Those broken promises
And welcomed accomplices
Oh, that light though the looking glass
It takes me to the past
Oh, that light through the looking glass
It takes me to the past
And it travels so far away
So fast with nothing to say
Oh, that light through the looking glass
It takes me to the past
Somewhere
Near there
liner notes:
I wrote this song as a reflection of my own life but in a general way that could be interpreted by anyone listening. The verses are in three sections – one reflecting the innocence of childhood, the second signifying the emotional turmoil of those teenage years, and finally, the mistakes we make as young adults as we start to traverse the real world. The song speaks to the unavoidable fact that we cannot erase our past. We carry it every day.
